FAQ's

When are taxes due?

2025 real estate first half taxes will be due February 13, 2026.

2025 real estate second half taxes will be due July 10, 2026.

2026 manufactured home first half taxes will be due March 2, 2026.

2026 manufactured home second half taxes will be due July 31, 2026.

How can I pay my taxes?

Taxes can be paid online. Please click here to pay online. Please note there are fees for this service from the payment processor and they are as follows: Debit/Credit payments 2.75% fee applies.

Checks can be mailed to the Huron County Treasurer’s Office at 16 East Main St, Floor 1, Norwalk, OH 44857.

Checks can be made payable to “Huron County Treasurer”. Be sure to include the stub from your tax bill or include the parcel number on the check.

Taxpayers can stop by the office to pay taxes by cash, check, money order, or debit/credit card. Please note there are fees for credit card services from the payment processor. These fees are as follows for in office payments: 2.75% credit card and $2.00 debit card payments.

Do you take credit/debit cards or electronic payments?

Yes, we do. Please click here to pay your tax online.

Can I make a payment for the taxes over the phone?

No. At this current time we do not accept payments over the phone. Please look for future updates that will make this option available.

Can I have my taxes paid directly from my bank account?

Yes, we have many options available to setup automatic payments for taxes. Please complete the Setup Automatic Withdrawal Agreement ACH Property Tax Payment that is located under forms and email it to treasurer@huroncountytreasurer.org or mail it to 16 East Main St, Floor 1, Norwalk, OH 44857.

Where is your office located?

The office is located in downtown Norwalk at 16 East Main St

What are your office hours?

The normal office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

I did not receive a bill. What should I do?

The Huron County Treasurer website has all parcels listed and you can print or reprint your tax bill at any time. If you need additional assistance please email the Treasurer's Office at treasurer@huroncountytreasurer.org to request a pdf copy of your bill.

If I go to the same place every winter can I have two address?

Yes, please fill out our Seasonal Address Change Form and email that to treasurer@huroncountytreasurer.org or mail that form to 16 East Main St, Floor 1, Norwalk, OH 44857.

Is a post mark acceptable for establishing if I met the due date?

Yes, a post mark is acceptable.

What did I pay in real estate taxes last year?

The new Huron County Treasurer payment website has payments listed now. Select Payment History on the left hand side of the screen with looking at a parcel.

What do I owe?

Tax amounts owed can be found on the Huron County Treasurer payment website or email us at treasurer@huroncountytreasurer.org

Do you sell real property for taxes owed?

Yes, properties are sold at Sherffi's Sale only. The dollar amount is determined by the taxes owed in addition to court costs accrued on the property.

How do I change my tax bill mailing address?

This must be done in writing. Please complete our Address Change Form and email it to treasurer@huroncountytreasurer.org

Why does the bill say these are taxes from last year?

Taxes are always a year behind in billing for real estate. Taxes are on the property, and so follow the property, not the owner.

Is there a penalty if I don't pay my taxes?

Yes, taxes paid within 10 days past the due date are subject to at 5% penalty. Taxes paid after 10 days are subject to a 10% penalty. Interest is applied twice a year to delinquent taxes on August 1st and December 1st each year.

What if I can't afford to pay my delinquency? Is there a payment plan available?

Yes, please fill out our Delinquent Taxes Payment Plan Application for review and send into the office by email at treasurer@huroncountytreasurer.org or call the office at 419-668-2090 to speak with staff regarding your options for a possible payment plan contract for delinquent taxes.
